As a third party logistics company, a majority of our customers, as well as our customers suppliers and vendors, whom we work with in the inbound logistics programs we set up for our customers, are manufacturers. Without manufacturing in America, there would be little need for logistics providers such as Thomasholmes, as there would be no freight available to help manage and process.

In the midst of our series on the manufacturing skills gap, we received a great response from many manufacturing professionals around our first three posts. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the percentage of manufacturing workers aged 55 to 64 years and the share of workers older than 65 years have both significantly increased since 2000. Moreover, the Department of Labor reports that the median age of the manufacturing workforce rose from 40.5 years in 2000 to 44.1 years in 2011.
